Berdsk

a city in Novosibirsk Oblast, RSFSR, located on the Berd’ River, near the point where it flows into the Novosibirsk Reservoir. Berdsk has a railroad station 38 km south of Novosibirsk. Population, 50,000 (1969). There is a radio factory, food-processing industry, and a medical college. Berdsk was founded as a prison at the beginning of the 18th century; it became a city in 1944. A workers’ resort is located nearby.
