Dnieper Liman
Dnieper Liman
an estuary in the northwestern part of the Black Sea along the coast of the Ukrainian SSR. It extends inland for 55 km and varies in width from 7.4 to 16.7 km, with a depth of approximately 5 m. The liman is cut off from the sea on the west by the low sandy Kinburn Kosa (spit). It is connected to the Black Sea by a 4.3-km strait. The water is brackish and freezes over during the winter. The Dnieper and luzhnyi Bug rivers flow into the Dnieper Liman.
