Elin Bor
Elin Bor
a Mesolithic site on a sandy dune on the left bank of the Oka River, near the city of Murom. I. P. Kudriavtsev discovered the site in 1878, and it was excavated by P. I. Boriskovskii in 1934 and L. V. Kol’tsov in 1959 and 1961. Three cultural levels have been distinguished. The lower one dates from the early Mesolithic and contains flint implements (various burins) resembling those of the Upper Paleolithic. The middle level is characterized by flint shouldered arrowheads and dates from the developed Mesolithic. The upper (Neolithic) level contains pottery with pic-tomb designs.
