1. Infusion of blood into the person who donated it.

Patient care

This is usually done by obtaining one or two units of blood, separating the red blood cells, and infusing them at a later date. It may also be performed by capturing blood lost during an operation with a cell saver and returning it to the patient intraoperatively.
