Brin, Sergey Mikhaylovich,
1973–, American business executive and computer scientist, b. Moscow, grad. Univ. of Maryland (B.S., 1993) and Stanford (M.S., 1995). His family immigrated to the United States in 1979. They were co-presidents from 1998 to 2001, when they hired Eric Schmidt as chairman and CEO. Brin then served as president of technology (2001–11) and subsequently directed special projects, which have included the Google Glass wearable computer and the Google driverless car. In 2015, following a restructuring in which Google and its non-Internet-related businesses were separated and all became subsidiaries of Alphabet, Inc., Brin became president of Alphabet.
