.DS_Store .DS_Store(.Desktop Services_Store) A Mac OS X file that is created by Finder in every folder to hold the user's folder view preferences. This file is hidden in the Mac, but visible in non-Mac computers. For example, if Finder is used to copy a file from a Mac to a Windows machine, the .DS_Store is created in the Windows machine. Prior to Leopard Version 10.5, the .DS_Store file held additional meta-data such as Spotlight comments. See DESKTOP.INI. |
