EU Tissue and Cells Directives

EU Tissue and Cells Directives

A generic term for those bodies (directives) which establish a harmonised approach to regulating tissues and cells across Europe, by setting a benchmark for the standards that must be met when carrying out any activity involving same-for-human application (patient treatment). The Directives also require that systems be put in place to ensure that all tissues and cells used in human application are traceable from donor to recipient, which is of greatest importance in tracing dread diseases (e.g., HIV infection).
