DSLAMDigital Subscriber Line Access ModuleDSLAM(DSL Access Multiplexer) A network device that aggregates multiple (telephone) DSL lines onto a high-speed channel such as Gigabit Ethernet or ATM in order to gain access to the Internet. Operating at layer 2 of the OSI model, DSLAMs separate phone and data signals and direct them to the appropriate networks. Although a DSLAM is often located in a telco central office (CO), it may also reside in a multi-premises facility such as a hotel or office building. See DSL, OSI model and central office.DSLAM
