Oblomievskii, Dmitrii Dmitrievich

 

Born Sept. 14 (27), 1907, in Orel; died May 21, 1971, in Moscow. Soviet Russian literary critic. Member of the CPSU from 1943.

Oblomievskii graduated from Leningrad State University in 1930. From 1943 to 1945 he was editor in chief of the French edition of the journal Internatsional’naia literatura (International Literature), and from 1946 to 1948, of the French edition of the journal Sovetskaia literatura (Soviet Literature). He was the author of the critical works French Romanticism (1947), Balzac: Stages of the Creative Path (1961), Literature of the French Revolution of 1789–1794: Essays (1964), and French Classicism (1968).
