frangible bullet A bullet which has a pre-scored outer jacket with a plastic round nose, containing compressed lead shot within. The result is a controlled fragmentation on impact, producing increased damage and less clothing-related problems. The tips, however, possess no explosive charges. If the gun barrel is not smooth and has any metallic projections, the bullet may split into two or more parts on leaving the gun barrel. |
