(1)One of the IGC networks. EcoNet serves individuals andorganisations working for environmental preservation andsustainability. Important issues covered include: globalwarming, energy policy, rainforest preservation, legislativeactivities, water quality, toxics and environmental education.

EcoNet users can send and receive private messages, includingfax and telex, to and from more than 18,000 internationalusers on the APC networks or to millions on other networks.EcoNet seeks to build coalitions and partnerships withactivist and non-profit organisations to develop the use ofthe electronic communications medium. EcoNet providessubsidies and financial incentives to environmentalorganisations and committed individuals who foster theeffectiveness of organisations through the use of electronicnetworking.
