Fedorovich, Boris Aleksandrovich
Born July 17 (30), 1902, in Warsaw. Soviet physical geographer and geomor-phologist. Doctor of geographical sciences (1953); professor (1956). Member of the CPSU since 1944.
Fedorovich graduated from Tavrida University (now University of Simferopol’) and worked there as an assistant professor from 1924 to 1927. Between 1927 and 1932 he was a research worker for the Commission on Natural Productive Forces of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. In 1933 he began working at the Institute of Geography of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Fedorovich’s principal works deal with the relief formation and paleogeography of the plains and mountains of Middle and Central Asia and Kazakhstan, geomorphological cartography, desert landscapes, and the classification of eolian relief formations.
Fedorovich received the State Prize of the USSR in 1952. He has also been awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Star, and various medals.
