It also features CivilWar and archeological digsites, and miles of natural beaches,marshlands, and prairie lands. Visitors can enjoy wildlife viewing,bicycling, hunting, boating, swimming and other recreational activities. Following Hurricane Rita, which hit southwest Louisiana on September 23, 2005, the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road has been in a state of recovery.
Legth: 180 miles. Start/Endpoint: Beginning on SR 27 near Sulphur and Lake Charles, byway cutsthrough the marshlands of southern Calcasieuand Cameron parishes and hugs the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Otherentrances are located on LA 82 at the Texas state line and the VermilionParish line; exit 36 from I-10; and just north of the Lake CharlesRegional Airport on LA 385. Time to Allow: 4.5 hours. Designation/Year: All-American Road (2002).
