Fedor Nikolaevich Krasheninnikov

Krasheninnikov, Fedor Nikolaevich

 

Born Dec. 12 (24), 1869, in Voronezh; died Dec. 14, 1938, in Moscow. Soviet botanist. Student of K. A. Timiriazev.

Krasheninnikov graduated from Moscow University in 1893 and worked there in the subdepartment of plant physiology and anatomy. In 1902 he became an assistant professor and was later appointed professor. In his master’s dissertation, “The Accumulation of Solar Energy in Plants” (1901), he demonstrated that plants absorb solar energy during photosynthesis and determined the heat of combustion of photosynthesis products.
