(security, body)(CERT) An organisation formed by DARPA inNovember 1988 in response to the needs exhibited during theInternet worm incident. The CERT charter is to work withthe Internet community to facilitate its response tocomputer security events involving Internet hosts, to takeproactive steps to raise the community's awareness of computersecurity issues and to conduct research targeted at improvingthe security of existing systems. CERT products and servicesinclude 24-hour technical assistance for responding tocomputer security incidents, product vulnerability assistance,technical documents and tutorials.
