Brda
a river in Poland; a left tributary of the Vistula. Length, 217 km; area of basin, 4, 700 sq km. The Brda rises in the Pomorze lake region and flows through a number of lakes. The average discharge of water is 31 cu m per sec. At a distance of 10 km from the estuary, near the city of Bydgoszcz, a canal begins that connects the system of the Vistula with the Noteć River (Odra Basin). The Brda is used to float timber. There is a hydroelectric power station. The river is navigable for 15 km from its estuary.
