catcher's mask cranioplasty catcher's mask cranioplasty (kach′ĕrz mask) A surgical technique for reconstructing a traumatically injured skull in which ribs are used as autografts to provide a scaffolding over the injury and parts of the calvarium are mobilized to smooth out the intercostal spaces. The structure provided by the ribs resembles the mask worn by catchers behind home plate. |
