Agapanthus a genus of perennial herbaceous plants of the family Liliaceae. The plants have a short, creeping rhizome and thick, fleshy roots. Five species from South Africa are frequently grown in rooms and greenhouses. The African lily (Agapanthus umbellatus ) is widespread in the USSR.
