Drunken Forest

a forest made up of trees that are twisted and leaning (in one or several directions) as a result of changes in the ground while the trees are growing. Drunken forests are most common in regions where landslides occur, for example, along the right bank of the middle Volga, on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus, and on the southern coast of the Crimea. Such forests are also found in regions marked by developing thermokarst topography (especially in Yakutia) and in karst regions with recent subsidence, cave-ins, and settlement.
