As defined in the UK, express consent constitutes formal permission to undergo a diagnostic or therapeutic procedure, or to allow use of personally identifiable information for research, epidemiology, financial audit or administration, publication and/or to release into the public domain. Without express consent, use of such materials is limited to teaching and training.
