Special Features:Overlooking the Ohio River on the southern tip of Illinois, Fort Massacwas dedicated as the first Illinois state park in 1908. The fort'smilitary history pre-dates the Revolutionary War. The currenthistoric site is a replica of the 1802 American fort that was locatedthere and also has the archeological outline of the French fortthat was there in 1757.
