Avellaneda, Alonso Fernández de

(älôn`sō fārnän`dāth dā ävĕlyänā`thä), pen name used by the unknown Spanish writer who published a spurious second part of Don Quixote in 1614, before Cervantes's own second part appeared (1615). The book is usually referred to as El Quijote apócrifo [the spurious Don Quixote], and its author is unidentified, although various attributions have been made.
