[′sər·kyə‚lād·iŋ ′kər·ənt] (astronomy) A current that circulated in an abnormal direction in the atmosphere of the southern hemisphere of Jupiter between 1919 and 1934; its presence was indicated by the behavior of dark spots in the region.
