Fedor Borisovich Godunov

 

Born 1589; died June 10 (20), 1605, in Moscow. Russian tsar from April 13 to June 1, 1605. Son of Boris Godunov.

Fedor Borisovich was well educated and possessed a lively intellect. During Boris Godunov’s reign, Fedor’s name accompanied that of his father on all official acts. After his father’s death, Fedor was proclaimed tsar but was overthrown shortly thereafter in a revolt by townspeople on June 1, 1605. Together with his mother and sister, he was arrested and slain on orders from the First False Dmitrii.
