Asia Minor Highlands

highlands in Turkey occupying a large part of the peninsula of Asia Minor. The interior part is the Anatolian Plateau, which is bordered by the outlying Pontic (in the north) and Taurus mountains (in the south). On the east, the Asia Minor Highlands blend into the Armenian Highland and on the west join the system of latitudinal ranges and depressions of the western part of the peninsula, primarily in the Aegean Basin.
