On the central southern border of ID, east of Twin Falls; organized Feb 20, 1879 (prior to statehood) from Oneida County. Name Origin: For Cassia Creek (spelled Cassier in 1879), named either from French cajeaux 'raft,' for for James John Cazier, member of the Mormon Battalion and a colorful wagon train leader. Locals also believe it is for the cassia plant.
