comprehensive metabolic panel Lab medicine A battery of analytes–albumin, alk phos, AST, BUN, calcium, chloride, glucose, potassium, sodium, total protein–which are measured to establish a baseline and detect metabolic disorders. See Panel. comprehensive metabolic panel, CMPA frequently ordered cluster of lab tests, comprising measurements of serum electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, and calcium), renal function (blood urea nitrogen [BUN] and creatinine), acid-base balance (bicarbonate), liver functions, and glucose.
