单词 | bradley, will h. |
释义 | Bradley, Will H.Bradley, Will H.(1868–1962) designer; born in Boston, Mass. He was a special student at Harvard, then worked as a poster and book designer in Chicago (1893–94). He moved to Springfield, Mass. (1895), and later settled in Short Hills, N.J. He founded the Wayside Press and designed typefaces, furniture, and homes, developing his own style that seemed a cross between the Arts and Craft Movement with Art Nouveau, and bridged the transition from the individual hand craftsman to machine-produced work. Although he did not see many of his designs get built, his illustrations in magazines such as the Ladies Home Journal early in the 1900s did influence others. He served as an art director for Century magazine and Collier's and wrote several children's books. |
