Ermakovskoe
a village, the administrative center of Ermakovskoe Raion, Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR. Ermakovskoe is situated on the Oia River, a tributary of the Enisei, on the Abakan-Kyzyl highway 103 km southeast of the Abakan railroad station and 75 km,from Minusinsk. Ermakovskoe has a hemp plant, a creamery, and a wood-products combine.
Ermakovskoe was founded in 1829. Before the Revolution it was one of the places of exile; V. K. Kurnatovskii, P. N. and O. B. Lepeshinskii, M. A. Sil’vin, N. N. Panin, and A. A. and D. V. Vaneev were exiled there. In 1899, V. I. Lenin, who at the time was living in the village of Shushenskoe, organized a meeting in Ermakovskoe of 17 politically exiled Marxists, at which Lenin’s well-known “A Protest by Russian Social-Democrats,” directed against the revisionist trend of “economism” among Social Democrats, was adopted.
