[¦ā·sə¦me·tri·kəl ′bed·iŋ] (geology) An order in which lithologic types or facies follow one another in a circuitous arrangement so that, for example, the sequence of types 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3 indicates asymmetry (while the sequence 1-2-3-2-1-2-3-2-1 indicates symmetrical bedding).
