The frame of a building in which resistance to lateral forces is provided by diagonal bracing, knee-bracing or cross-bracing; sometimes using girts that are mortised into solid posts which are full frame height.

Heavy, braced wood framing for a structure which uses girts that are mortised into solid posts; the posts are full frame height, with one-story-high studs between, usually diagonally braced.
