(trade name Atophan), a medicinal preparation that facilitates the transfer of uric acid from the tissues to the blood as well as its excretion by the kidneys. Cinchophen intensifies the secretion of bile and gastric juice and has an analgesic action. It is used internally in tablet form to treat gout.
