Cinadon
Cinadon
Died in 399 B.C. Leader of a conspiracy in Sparta in 399.
Supported by impoverished Spartans and those who were not accorded full civil rights—the perioeci and helots—Cinadon prepared an armed uprising with the aim of redistributing property, establishing civil equality, and abolishing oligarchical rule. The conspiracy was exposed through treachery, and Cinadon and his supporters were executed.
