Bozakh

a breed of coarse-wooled, fatty-tailed sheep raised for their meat, wool, and milk. The breed has developed in the mountain regions of Armenia and Azerbaijan through many centuries of popular selection. The animals are not large, and they have a fatty tail in the shape of two half-opened lobes with a small appendage. The coloration is dirty-white, yellow-white, or, more rarely, brown-and-gray. The liveweight of the rams is approximately 65 kg; of the ewes, 45–55 kg. The wool is coarse with a high beard content. The milk productivity is 36–38 kg of marketable milk per year. A small number of purebred Bozakh sheep are raised in the Armenian SSR.
