deviation indicator deviation indicatorAn indicator that indicates the direction toward which the aircraft is required to be flown to maintain the required radial. It contains two lines—one horizontal and the other vertical—and the point of intersection of these lines represents the aircraft's position. With VOR (very high frequency omnidirectional radio-range), only the vertical (left/right) pointer is used. An on/off flag comes into operation if there is any fault in the signal supply or if the difference between the omni-bearing indication and the correct omni bearing is significantly more than 10°. |
