Chávez, Edward (Arcenio)

(1917– ) painter, sculptor; born in Wagonmound, N.M. A Mexican American, he studied at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center with Boardman Robinson (1930s), traveled in Europe, and was based in New York City and Woodstock, N.Y. He has worked in graphics, painting and sculpture, and his abstract paintings, such as Mirage (1961), have secured his reputation.
