Ergjj

an urban-type settlement in Madona Raion, Latvian SSR. Ērgji is situated on the Ogre River, 102 km southeast of Riga. It is a terminus on a railroad line from the city. Industrial enterprises include a milk plant and a branch of the Somdaris Combine, which produces leather clothing accessories. The estate of the poet Blaumanis, situated 4 km from the settlement, has been made into a memorial museum.
