Aukhadi Maragai

 

(Isfahani) Rukn-al-Din. Born in Maraga, date of birth unknown; died in 1337. Azerbaijani poet. Wrote in the Farsi language.

Aukhadi Maragai spent most of his life in Isfahan. He was a disciple of the Sufi sheikh and poet Aukhad-al-Din Ker-mani, from whose name he received his pseudonym. Almost all of the genres of Persian poetry are represented in the divan of Aukhadi Maragai. His poem Chalice of Jemshid, written in imitation of the celebrated poem Garden of Truth by Sanai, became quite famous. The poem expounds the Sufi cosmogonic and ethical philosophies.
