Location:East of Anchorage, along Glenn and Seward Highways.
Facilities:135 campsites (all 3 campgrounds have overflow areas), group use area,2 cabins, yurt, picnic areas and shelters, trails, nature center, gift shop, restrooms, snack bar.
Activities:Camping, fishing, boating, wind surfing, hiking, ATV riding, bicycling,horseback riding, whitewater rafting, whale watching, mountain climbing, glacier travel, interpretiveprograms, guided nature walks, guided backcountry wilderness hikes,wildlife viewing, cross-country and downhill skiing, snowshoeing, dogsledding, snowmobiling, ice climbing.
Special Features:One of the largest state parks in the United States, Chugach ranges in elevation from sea level to 8,000 feet and includes vegetation zones that vary from dense forest to alpine tundra. Although the predominant feature of the park is the breathtaking alpine scenery, the park offers other remarkable phenomena such as the bore tide in Turnagain Arm -- twice a day, a wall of water up to six feet high races up the channel as the tide comes in. The park supports an abundance of wildlife, maintains an extensive trail system, and offers a variety of recreational opportunities year round.
