an inflorescence (compound monochasium) in which the younger part with the furled flowers is decurved in a spiral. From the main axis (branch) of the bostryx, which holds one flower, there emerges another monanthus axis further down, then another, third-order, axis emerges from the second on the same side, and so forth. As the flowers unfurl, each axis grows longer than the maternal branch. Bostryces are characteristic for members of the family Boraginaceae, for example, forget-me-nots, Bethlehem sage, and comfrey.
