Fiiuzat
Fiiuzat
an Azerbaijani literary and sociopolitical illustrated weekly publication. Fiiuzat was published in Baku in 1906 and 1907 under the editorial direction of Alibek Guseinzade. The writers and publicists associated with Fiiuzat, including G. S. Aivazov, A. Kiamal, and A. Raig, advocated a class-ordered world, pan-Islam, and pan-Turkism.
Progressive writers also contributed to the journal, for example, G. Zardabi, M. A. Sabir, M. Khadi, G. Dzhavid, A. Shaig, and A. Sikhkhat. The journal occasionally criticized tsarist national and colonial oppression and Iranian and Turkish despotism; it published articles on Azerbaijani culture. Fiiuzat was written in a particularly literary language, with Arabic and Persian words predominating.
