Dasyatis Pastinaca
a fish of the family Dasyatidae (stingrays). It is up to 2.5 m long and weighs up to 16 kg. At the base of the tail there is a large spine, which is serrated along the edges. The sting is dangerous (the groove of the spine has cells of glandular tissue that secrete poison). D. pastinaca is found in the Atlantic Ocean and in the Mediterranean, Black, and Azov seas. It is a viviparous benthic fish. It feeds on invertebrates and small fish. The commercial value of D. pastinaca is minor.
