I was wondering how long can my car stay there before a mechanic lien is put on it? My repair bill was $1800 and I now owe a $1000. I heard that as long as I am paying on my bill within 30 days, that they cannot put a lien on it.

Technically they can place a lien as soon as you fail to pay.
