Boris Kozyrev

Kozyrev, Boris Mikhailovich

Born Apr. 21 (May 4), 1905, in Ashkhabad. Soviet physicist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1968).

Upon his graduation from the University of Kazan in 1930, Kozyrev remained there to work. He has been working at the Kazan Physiotechnical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1947. His principal scientific works are devoted to the study of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). He was the first to detect EPR in free radicals (with S. G. Salikhov, 1947), discover the influence of nuclear spin on EPR (with S. A. Al’tshuler and Salikhov, 1948), and investigate EPR and paramagnetic relaxation in solutions and electrolytes (with others). He has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and various medals.
