Community Service Center

Community Service Center

(in Russian, obshchest-vennyi tsentr), also service center, a complex of buildings and structures in a residential or industrial district of a city; in a city, settlement, or village; in a group of settlements; or in an oblast. The term can also designate an area not specifically designed as a community service center but which fulfills the functions of one. A community service center is intended to provide various services (cultural-educational, personal) to the public. Multiservice centers include social, cultural, educational, and commercial institutions; administrative agencies; and enterprises that render personal services. Community service centers may be compact or extensive, forming an architectural ensemble or a system of ensembles with squares, streets, and esplanades.
