chromidial apparatus

Uncertain; an obsolete term for various basophilic structures (e.g., granules, networks, rods, strands, etc.) delineated by light microscopy using nonspecific dyes; it is possible that the chromidial apparatus included endoplasmic reticulum, the Golgi complex, endoplasmic reticulum, and other sundry cytoplasmic structures. The term was created in the pre-molecular biology era and is not used in the working biomedical parlance.
