Established: 1959.
Location:South edge of the Great Salt Lake Desert, 104 miles southwest of Tooele and 78 miles northwest of Delta.
Facilities:Visitor contact station, picnic area, viewing sites, auto tour route (11 miles), historic features.
Activities:Canoeing, hiking, hunting.
Special Features:Pony express riders came and went from the Fish Springs Pony Express Station twice a day. Retracing their route leads hundreds of enthusiasts through the refuge each year.
Habitats: 17,992 acres of saline marsh.
Access: Open sunrise to sunset. However, refuge is extremely isolated and can be reached only by gravel roads across uninhabited desert.
Wild life: Waterfowl, including swans, Canada geese, mallards, and teal. Also provides habitat for a variety of shore and wading birds, including great blue herons, avocets, and eared grebes.
