Figueras y Moragas, Estanislao

 

Born Nov. 13, 1819, in Barcelona; died Nov. 11, 1882, in Madrid. Spanish political figure. Republican.

Figueras y Moragas took an active part in the revolution of 1854–56. During the revolution of 1868–74 he founded the newspaper La Igualdad, which called for the establishment of a republic in Spain. From February to June 1873 he was chief of the executive power of the first republic (1873–74).
