places that train specialists with various qualifications for the book trade. In 1973 highly qualified specialists were trained at the Moscow Institute of Printing (book experts and promoters), the N. K. Krupskaia Leningrad Institute of Culture (experts in book commerce and bibliography), the Kharkov Institute of Culture (book experts and bibliographers), the Moscow Correspondence Institute of Soviet Trade (economists for the book trade), and a number of other higher educational institutions.

Book-trade experts and bibliographers with secondary qualifications graduated (as of 1973) from book-trade technicums in Moscow, Kiev, Leningrad, Saratov, and Novosibirsk, as well as from trade and cooperative technicums in Alma-Ata, Tashkent, Vilnius, Tbilisi, Yereven, Bukhara, and Baku. Sales personnel for bookstores are trained at book-trade schools in the vocational-technical system.

Other socialist countries also have book-trade educational institutions.
