Eastman, P. D. (Philip Dey)

(1909–86) author, illustrator, film producer; born in Amherst, Mass. He studied at Amherst College and at the National Academy of Design, New York, worked for Warner Brothers and Disney Studios, Calif., and created the Gerald McBoing Boing series for United Productions (UPA). He moved to New York City (1950s), lived in Westport, Conn., wrote children's books, notably Are You My Mother? (1960), and collaborated with Theodor Geisel on The Cat in the Hat Dictionary (1964).
